On the 1st of October I and my group were given a lecture on “The Principles of 3D design, there we were shown various pieces of Art Work based on these principles including Organisation, Hierarchy, proximity, unity, harmony, variety, pattern, modularity, rhythm, motion and emphasis. In the after we were assigned to create a piece based on one of the following principles
I myself chose patterns, so I went to the library and chose two art books to photocopy a page from each.
My Picks:
- American Art Deco (Alastair Duncan) The Piece- “Manhattan” by Lydia Bush-Brown
- Creative Knitting, A new artform (Mary Walker Phillips) The Piece- “Illus” Fragment of a turban in alpaca
For my piece I took the photocopy of “Manhattan” and glued thin strips of paper onto one the buildings in the picture, this was so I could recreate the grid pattern like in some parts of the piece.
